Ingredients:
- 2 pie shells (1 if you want an open-faced pie)
- 4 mediums apples, peel, cored, quartered and sliced
- small piece of fresh ginger, a little less than an inch or so,
- 1 lemon, juiced
- cup sugar (I used half brown and half white)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- teaspoon ground nutmeg (depending on how much you like the spice)
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 egg wash, optional (1 egg white and a tsp of water)
- pinches of sugar for sprinkles
